Medium: Oil
Landscape
This painting is for sale for $1200. Working in layers of glazes, this painting is in oils but has similar qualities to watercolours with each layer showing through to the next. There are about 8 layers of paint on this painting which provides luminosity and depth to the piece. I have also introduced texture to this work, creating interest.

Title: “ I am the Light and the Dark”
Size: 18” h x 24” wide
Medium: Oil
Figurative
This figurative painting sold for $800 at one of the Art Gallery of NS’s themed events. It sold in 2007 for $800 to a company located in Purdy’s Wharf.  This painting is of Isabel Barbet. One summer my husband Phil and I were visiting my daughter Teal in Vancouver. She gifted us with an overnight at a B&B on one of the islands just off Vancouver. During our stay there, we heard what I thought was a radio, only to learn the next morning that it was Isabel singing, accompanied by the owner of the B&B playing the piano. Isabel is from Paris, France and was performing at a Fringe Festival in Vancouver. She preferred the solitude of the B&B over Vancouver’s busy-ness. We travelled back to Vancouver together on the ferry, where we really hit it off. She explained in her broken English that her performances were about the Jewish Holocaust, her own personal abuse and the abilities to rise above the atrocities. She invited us to attend her performance that evening. I can describe her singing and dance with one word “powerful”. Since that time we have connected by emails and she has sent me images of her that I could paint, this painting being one of them. She explained to me that she felt like she was both: “The Light and the Dark”.

Title "The Back Shift"

Size: 24"w x 44" h
Medium: Oil
Figurative
This portrait is of my father, who died in his sleep a year ago Aug. 15 at the age of 83. He worked 39 years as a welder at the CN Railway. This painting depicts a typical day of welding at the Round House located at the rail yards in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Title “Potted”
Size: 20” h x 18” w
Medium: Oil
Floral
First prize in floral at the Elmsdale Art show in 2007
Sold

Title “One Egg or Two”
Still Life: Always one to take the obvious and force us to really look at it, this still life makes us study form, texture, and color of something as mundane as breakfast. This piece is sold.

Title “What Big Eyes You Have”

Size: 25" w x 26" H
Medium: Oil
Animal Portraiture
As one can tell, I love animal portraiture. I try to capture the true essence of the animal, his soul. Often I will depict the animal playing or in full figure.
